About Tired Garden

Who is Jason?

Jason is a Christian, husband, father, gardener, 5 feet 10 inch tall, 165 pound, elementary school student teacher. He is passionate about everything he does and does as much as he can. He really enjoys learning new things and telling others about what he learns. Learning can happen everywhere and from everyone.

Jason was born with brown hair and has never died it. Although he did have streaks of blond put into it when he was 15. He also has dirt colored eyes. An avid reader, Jason reads on many subjects. His fiction tastes include sci-fi, fantasy, classics, children's literature, and Christian fiction. In non-fiction he enjoys reading about gardening and sustainability, as well as woodworking, history, history of tools and woodworking especially, and religion, mostly Christianity, but he enjoys reading about the beliefs of others as well. He reads many other topics as well, including cooking, teaching, math, and anything else that happens to pass in front of his eyes. He also has a tendency to tell people what he has read and thinks is interesting, even if they have shown no interest in knowing.

Jason is the owner of three domains. TiredGarden.info, ShabamSchool.com and ShabamDevelopment.com. He enjoys working on the sites, and spends more time on them that his family likes, and less than he wants. He will stay up late in order to work on them, and is trying to train himself to get up at 5am so that he has more time for that kind of activity.

What is Tired Garden?

With all the waste in our global society, many of us think something needs to be done. We want to help get something done about it. Here you will find ideas about how to reduce your carbon footprint, decrease your waste, and overall help the environment.

What does Tired Garden Mean?

Well, I was up late one night looking for a way to make affordable raised beds for my garden. Wood is costly and rots. I had some decking, but I was afraid of using chemically treated wood near my veggies. I wanted something cheap and environmentally friendly. I found out that old automobile tires are often just piled up in heaps and cause an enormous impact on our environment. So I went to my local tire store and asked if I could have a few of their old tires. I took them home, cut the sidewalls out, and poof, I had a nice raised bed garden.

How can I report a bug or make a suggestion?

Yes, there are bugs in the system. This is a new site, so still is being tested. If it was not a new site, it would still have bugs. That is the nature of life. There are always things that are not perfect. That said, we do strive for the best. If you find a bug, please report it. We need to know about these so we can fix it. You can also make suggestions for new features, text changes, or whatever.

What are your credentials? Why should we listen to what you say?

I'll be honest. I'm not a guru. I'm learning all this as I go. Everything that I write here is from what I learn along the way. I have a nice sized yard that was overgrown when we moved in. It has been hard for us to care for it because the weeds (many of which were planted by the previous owner) have taken over. We are now getting more aggressive, reading about proper care, and going about it in the most natural way we can. What we learn I will be putting into articles here. As for what my credentials are... I have a BA in Social Science. I'm working on my Masters in Education. I worked for 10 years in various areas in the computer industry. In other words, I have no expertise in gardening or sustainability.
