Hepatitis and the Kite Man or I Like Frogs

Do you have commercials or tv shows from your childhood that haunt your memories? Working in a school I regularly go into the bathrooms and see signs that remind me to wash my hands and that Portland has had a rise in hepatitis. Every time I see the signs I start singing"

Wash your hands after going to the bathroom
Wash your hands after changing baby too
Cause we don't want to spread hepatitis
And we don't want hepatitis to get you (who) you!

Today I went hunting for that song and could not find it. I'd love to have a copy of the video. I bet that someone has to have it on some Saturday morning cartoons that have yet to record over. I was also looking for the Kite Man from PGE. "What about frogs?" "I like frogs." I'd really like to have legal copies of some of these great PSAs from yesteryear to use in my classroom. I have the collection of School House Rock, because you can get them on DVD, but many of the others are not as readily available. Do you remember Time for Timer? "I hanker for a hunk of cheese!"

Pacific Power

The Kite Man was actually a PSA for Pacific Power, not PGE, if that helps in your search. I've been looking for years, still haven't seen anything. I agree with Joseph, it seems like both PSA's should have surfaced online by now. When they do, I'm sure they'll spread like wildfire!

Kite Man

Teaching about kite safety, didn't the Kite Man ask "What about fog?". That's how I remember, and it would also explain the look he gave after the little girl said "I like frogs"

I've been looking, too!!!

I've been searching for both of these for ages, still haven't found them. Please let me know if you find them!!! Thanks, Joy

Call the Kite Man!

I loved the Kite Man commercial and have tried to find it for my children to watch, with no success. My wife who grew up around the Vancouver area does not remember The Kite Man and just looks at me like I am strange when I burst out with "What about frogs?" I remember the hepatitis song also. I am sure that at the time, I did not care about those songs, but in retrospect, those were some of the great things about growing up. I would love to know if anyone ever finds a copy. One would think with the great encompassing architecture that is the internet, where we can find just about everything with the punch of a few keys, The Kite Man would be somewhere around. I already showed my kids the Ramblin Rod show.

Ramblin Rod

Oh, yes. Ramblin Rod was great. I watched it often, but I am sad to say that I never had the chance to be on the show myself. My wife was, though.

The Kite Man

What if your kite wi-inds around a power line? Call the kite man! If you EVER find a copy of that let me know! Thanks for the memory!
