Down by the sea

in

I promised that I would put up some images of my trip to the beach. Attached are a couple of images from the trip. The first is a sea anemone that was attached to a rock in a tide pool. Most of them had closed up, but this one waited for me to get the picture before it closed up. The other is of a group of star fish that were nestled up together, waiting for high tide. I'm sure that when the tide comes back in, they will move back up a couple feet to where the muscles are, and have a feast.

There was a biologist there talking about the tidepools. She told me what species the anemone was, but of course I did not write it down, so I can't tell you. If there are any sea life experts who read this blog, feel free to comment and let us know whatever you know about these guys. The anemone was small, maybe 3 inches across. The starfish on the otherhand were much larger. Each one of them was more than a foot from tip to tip.
